Responsibilities:
A network administrator is responsible for keeping the network functioning at optimal levels. This includes the internal network (LAN), a company-wide network that encompasses multiple locations (WAN) as well as the connection with the outside world.
Depending on the complexity of the network, other duties can include server maintenance and backup, email administration, assigning and maintaining user logon and access privileges.
Upgrades, installs and troubleshoots networks, networking hardware devices and software.
Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation.
Develops and documents system standards for computer and network devices
Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, backup and disaster recovery plans and adding and deleting users
Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in IT
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) , ( CCNP ) , Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE); Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA)is an added advantage
Basic networking skills
2 - 5 years experience in the role
